  If you are in the area or traveling through, do yourself a favor and stop in. The menu has a great variety, and it is after all a microbrewery, and their own root beer for the non-alcoholics. Over all an excellent place to strap on a feedbag.

  This brewery and pub in a small old mining town off the highway between Denver and the ski towns might be easy to overlook, but the food and drink is worth the stop. The space is pretty huge with a big bar and tons of tables, some nearly up against the brewing vessels. The beer is very good, with several entries medaling at beer festivals. Everything we tried from the dark porters to the hoppy IPAs were excellent, though the maple stout was a bit sweet. It’s less common to find good breweries that also have good food, but Tommy Knockers has both. The appetizers are very strong from the tasty tangy wings to unique pepper poppers made in fresh peppers with awesome sauce. The burgers here are outstanding with choices of beef, bison, lamb, and elk. The green chile burger was sloppy but oh so delicious. The stop in to Tommy Knockers is worth it.

  An incredibly friendly place with a spectacular variety of home-brewed beers and root beers, not to mention mounds of hearty, tasty food. Come, get a selection of drinks and don't worry about your arteries for the rest of the evening. The staff are charming, and treated us to a tour of the brewery before our meal.
  
  It's a bit out-of-the-way, but it's a perfect stop on the way back into Denver after working up an appetite in the mountains, or any other excuse you need to justify coming here.
